Under review is a Silver 1968 Mustang showing 5,807 miles however the lifetime mileage is unknown The vin# was taken from the dashboard & is: 8RO1C0116999.
Engine & Engine Bay detail
The engine bay is tidy & houses the 289 CID V8 with a 4-barrel carburetor. Also visible in the engine bay are the brake booster/master cylinder & power steering components, the battery, Air conditioning brackets, headers, Edelbrock aluminum valve covers & air cleaner lid & alternator. The rad cradle has a kink in it that was painted over & the right-side shock tower is somewhat crudely attached to the inner fender. The power gets to the ground through a 5-speed manual transmission with a stock differential
Chassis Detail
The chassis & floor pans are good with just minor signs of surface rust with no patching visible although the car was not viewed on a lift. Visible under the car are the exhaust system, drum brakes all around All this rides on a very nice set of Legend Series alloy wheels with spinners & Cooper radial tires which are in excellent condition.
Interior Detail
The interior is said to be the original interior & at this point is incomplete although the components to complete it are in the current owner's possession. The components that are present show very well throughout no wear or damage visible. The carpet, headliner, weather stripping, seats, door/kick panels are good throughout. The dash currently is incomplete with a new gauge bezel in the parts to be installed. Also present are the system monitoring gauges, air conditioning/heater controls.
Trunk Detail
The trunk is good throughout with minor signs of patching visible. There is a carpet covering the trunk floor. The trunk lid opens & closes effortlessly with the lock & latch operating as they should. The spare tire & related hardware are present & in very good condition.
Exterior Detail
The exterior of the car is good with the body lines straight & fit of the body panels also good. The car is said to have been repainted recently with the quality workmanship having it looking terrific. The factory tinted glass, chrome, bezels, lenses, trim & bright work are in good condition.
Overview & Conclusions
Originally a 4-speed manual it has been upgraded to the 5-speed manual it has today. With factory air conditioning it is a rare car due to the air conditioning being a rare option back in 1968. The recent paint job looks to be very good with the fit of the panels good. The kink in the rad cradle, the workmanship having the strut tower attached to the inner fender, both have a negative impact on the value. However, with that said these Mustangs are still a hot seller today & this one having air conditioning components & manual make it a rare bird for sure. $22900 USD
