1966 Chevrolet Corvette 427, 4-SPD, Match #S, Frame-Off Resto, Must See

We get a lot of C2 (aka mid-year) Corvette roadsters here at Carroll Street. We love these cars and so do many of our customers. For most enthusiasts, the preferred ones are 65s to 67s, as they came with four-wheel disc brakes. Add one of the big-block engine options available during those years and it only gets better with pin-you-to-the-seat performance accompanied by a rocking soundtrack. This handsome Milano Maroon example offered here checks all those boxes and then some. The Corvette has had just one owner since 1974 and has only amassed 56,122 miles since it left the factory. The recipient of a frame-off restoration that took place from 2006 to 2017, this real-deal, matching-numbers 427 cubic-inch, 390-horsepower roadster must be seen, heard and driven to be believed. The arrow-straight body was resprayed in that correct Milano Maroon hue and is nicely accented with brilliant chrome bumpers and trim, as well as the iconic side exhaust and knock-off style wheels wrapped with gold line radials. Even the rubber weather stripping was replaced as was the soft top. The clean and dry underside of this C2 is impressive as well. Hop in behind the telescopic Teakwood steering wheel and youll note nearly everything is in factory-fresh condition. The seats and door panels as well as the instruments and controls all look great. There is a factory AM/FM radio, though we think it was added later at some point as its antenna is manual, whereas a power antenna was standard in 1966 with the AM/FM radio. Under the hood is the numbers-matching 427/390 V8 that's matched to the original Muncie M21 close-ratio 4-speed gearbox and 3.70-geared Positraction rear end. That rumbling side exhaust sounds awesome without being obnoxious. As you can imagine, it's a thrill to wheel this powerful, classic Corvette roadster around, whether cruising along a curvy country road or roaring up a freeway on-ramp.
