Lone Star Muscle Cars is proud to present this very rare and unique piece of automotive history. The Monterey (model 72C) was introduced in 1950 as a high-end two-door coupe. Standard features included leather faced seats, simulated leather headliner, wool carpets, chrome-plated interior garnish moldings, two-toned dashboard, special black steering wheel, fender skirts, dual outside rearview mirrors, full wheel covers & gold winged hood ornament. Only three colors were available in the pre-production run the one we have available is black with yellow top. Finding a 1949 to 1951 Mercury in pure stock form is more difficult that finding one that has been modified. Due to the aforementioned rod situation, stock two-door models may be the most difficult to find, with the Monterey edition being the rarest and are even more difficult to find. Records are hard to find on these cars, but by all accounts,it appears that less than 800 were built. Since this car is 74 years old there may only be a handful in still in collector's hands. This car was restored to its original condition along with the canvas top and yellow and black interior. Powered by a 4.2-liter flathead V8 engine that delivers 110 horsepower and 202 lb-ft of torque. The car is capable of reaching speeds of up to 90 mph and can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in approximately 20 seconds. While these performance figures may seem modest by modern standards, they were impressive for the time and contributed to the cars popularity. Here is your opportunity to add to your collection.
