$400,000 custom build! Just when you think something can't get any better, it's taken to the next level. This 65 GTO was driven as an everyday commuter to college by its original owner who hung on to it for 40+ years. It started with an artist's rendering and DWS restorations built the car into a 2015 SEMA Car Crazy Showcase car. Some of those cars are built just for show, on and off trailers. This one functions and performs as awesome as it looks! Best of everything: an Art Morison custom chassis, Strange independent rear suspension, reworked Dart 540 aluminum engine, custom sculpted leather interior and so much more. This car has been featured as Meguiar's Car Crazy SEMA Showcase car, Goodguys, Gold Award participant, 2015 Battle of the Builders feature car, and 2016 winner at Pro Builder Face-off Invitational.
EXTERIOR: Precision is the word used to describe the fit and finish. Stunning body work with slick paint. This GTO was painted in a one of one House of Color Candy Red. It's gorgeous! Everything was replaced or restored to new. All new glass with anti-glare windshield, Original Parts Group new trim, front grill, and bumpers. Sitting on custom offset 18" front and 20" rear Budnik wheels with Falken sport tires. They give this GTO a perfect fitment without rubbing on the inner fenders. The power convertible top is black cloth with a glass window done by Bill Dunn Upholstery.
INTERIOR: Completely Custom built by Bill Dunn Upholstery exclusive to this GTO. A full-length console splits up the 4 bucket seats. Custom leather and suede door panels with machine turned trim. They used modern GTO seats and custom upholstered with suede and leather. All custom handmade machine turned dash panel and center console. The center console storage hides the ignition, power windows, and switches for the stereo system. Custom black leather dash pad to match. Custom speaker system with Pioneer Bluetooth touchscreen head unit and completed with subwoofer. The power windows, and power top are a breeze to operate. Ididit tilt steering column with custom leather wrapped Budnik steering wheel. All the gauges are custom white interface and DWS exclusive. They flow with the rest of the themed interior so well. Only someone with top tier creative talent is able to make an interior look this good.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: You'll be mesmerized looking under the hood of this one. Everything is polished! Custom fabricated inner fender liners, engine bay painted show glossy candy red. The engine is a custom Pfaff Engines built Dart 565ci pushing 700HP. It is an all aluminum engine that was deburred and polished. It has a Demon dual feed carb, coated headers, serpentine belt. The engine has been finished with all chrome or polished accessories including, PowerMaster performance alternator, MSD ignition, Detroit Speed power steering, all custom braided and stainless steel lines, and fittings. Billet pulleys and brackets and even the hood hinges. Be Cool polished aluminum radiator, polished hard hoses and electric fans keep the motor cool. A separate mini radiator with electric fan cools the trans fluid. Hydroboost Wilwood brake booster makes braking very smooth.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: No details were left alone on this GTO. The trunk was fully painted candy red and glossy. It was finished with a matching custom boxed upholstery to make it look like a modern trunk. Very nice leather and red stitched liner.
UNDERSIDE: Rotisserie body off frame restoration, completely custom built with no corners cut. It's just as much of a show car underneath as the rest of the car. This GTO is sitting on a custom one off Art Morrison chassis that's been completely powder coated candy red. It was custom built with polished front Detroit Speed tubular independent suspension, and polished Strange independent rear suspension. It's sitting on coil over shocks on all 4 corners, and Wilwood 6 piston disc brakes are made up in all 4 corners. Lokar Performance e brake is all new and hooked up. The exhaust is a custom ceramic coated full 3" with H pipe and quad MagnaFlow resonators. The gas tank is new and fitted with all new braided fuel lines and weldon inline pump. The engine has a Polished Holly oil pan, and is mated to a TCI 6L80e automatic. A new Strange independent rear differential is made up with 4.11 gears and posi-traction. All new metal was professionally installed for the floors and trunk, and also painted a color matched chip guard paint.
SERVICE: Through our shop inspection we looked over this GTO closely. The following things were added/repaired. Added heat sleeving to the spark plug wires, repaired the front turn signal to cancel properly, adjusted the driver window to function smoothly, and repaired the window trim. Whoever the next fortunate owner is will have one of the best pro touring muscle cars in existence!
Every single aspect of this GTO is overly impressive! It does it all: the workmanship will impress even professional builders, the performance will impress anybody with a driver's license, the looks will impress anybody with a pulse! Seriously, this is a world class build with only 1,400 miles. It would cost double to duplicate; you will be waiting a couple years and you could only hope it will turn out as great as this one.
