Gateway Classic Cars Houston Showroom is excited to offer this ONE OWNER 1968 Ford Mustang for sale. Its owner purchased it new from Hull-Dobbs Ford in Memphis, TN on 2/3/1968, it has been driven an average of just over 3400 miles per year over these last 55 years. According to the original dealer sales contract, this Diamond Blue Mustang hardtop coupe came with a the following features (as listed in order on the contract/invoice): 3-Speed Cruise O'Matic automatic transmission, Power Steering, WSW Tires, Radio, Wheel Covers, lap belts, Black Vinyl Roof, Air Conditioning, 289 V-8 Engine, Tinted Glass, and R/C L H Mirror, and went out the door for $3223.75. Of course, over the 55 years that its owner has had the car, it has been maintained well, and has been repainted twice. The drivetrain is original to the car, with the engine having been overhauled at 179,400 miles in 2004. The black vinyl top was removed during one of the repaints, and they elected not to replace it. The factory air conditioning system still cools, but it has not been converted to R134a, so it's operating on R12 refrigerant at reduced cooling efficiency. The original AM radio (which is in the trunk) was replaced by an AM/FM/Cassette head unit. It does still wear WSW (white sidewall) tires, but they are now radials (and not the original bias ply tires that have long since been replaced). The interior shows evidence of its originality, with the metal panels in the rear seat area showing some discoloration of the paint. The seats have been recovered in a nice two-tone synthetic leather, and the carpet shows little wear (but some age-related discoloration). Overall, this is a true survivor car that has seen proper preventive maintenance throughout its life, and has been kept by a respectful owner, who also put in some occasional restorative expenditures to ensure that it could be enjoyed for the 55 years it's been in the hands of its original purchaser. Original documentation will come with the car, along with receipts that they've kept throughout its history. This car is more than just a mode of transportation, it's a slice of Americana.
