This 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Convertible is one of the most iconic American made automobiles of all time and just screams Americana! Starting in 1955, and culminating in 1957, Chevrolet built some of the most iconic American cars of all time, during an span known as the Tri-Five Chevy Era. The 1957 Bel Air is of course the ultimate, and last, Tri-Five Chevy! The '57 Bel Air was significantly updated stylistically and mechanically from the previous two year's models. Up front, the '57 Chevy sported a flatter hood with dual wind splits sitting above a completely new grille and bumper design. Moreover, at the front of the new-look hood on the 1957 Bel Air was an elevated gold anodized "V" emblem along with a matching gold "V" emblem and gold "Bel Air" script on the trunk, differentiating the top-of-the-line Bel Air from the entry-level 150 and intermediate-level 210 models. Perhaps the most iconic attribute of the '57 Chevy Bel Air is most visible from a side profile; that being, a set of large fins protruding from the rear quarter panels that gave the the car its iconic silhouette. Additionally, the Bel Air's interior trim and dash design were the beneficiaries of a significant facelift in 1957. The 1957 Bel Air interiors were known as being the plushest and most luxurious across all of Chevrolet's models since the Bel Air sat atop the GM marque's hierarchy. The other substantial upgrade in 1957 for the Chevrolet Bel Air was the introduction of the 283 V8 engine which offered 18 additional cubic inches of displacement from the previous year's 265 V8. Under the hood on this particular Bel Air is a 283 Cubic Inch V8 engine paired with a single 4 barrel carburetor that pushed out 220 horsepower when new. The 283 V8 is backed by an upgraded TH350 Automatic Transmission that makes this classic Chevy Convertible easy for anybody to drive. Exhaust exits the 283 powerplant via a dual exhaust setup that gives the car a nice throaty sound. The chrome and brightwork around the exterior of this 1957 Chevy is in wonderful condition and adds to the wonderful look of this classic 50s Chevrolet. Riding on a set of wide whitewall radial tires paired with a set of Spinner-style Full Wheelcovers, this '57 Chevy has a great look and even better ride. The white vinyl power convertible top is in wonderful condition and works great, and it even tucks beneath a red vinyl boot when it is down. The exterior has been refinished in a beautiful Matador Red that completes the exterior look of this 1957 Bel Air. The interior on this 1957 Bel Air Convertible is absolutely stunning! The front and rear bench seats have been reupholstered in two-tone Red and Silver vinyl, just how this car came back in 1957. The matching upholstered door panels, black carpeting, steering wheel, and Matador Red painted dash are in wonderful shape as well and all appear to be in their stock configuration. The dash is equipped with a 120 MPH speedometer, temperature gauge, and gasoline gauge, as well as an electric clock and upgraded retro-style AM/FM/Cassette entertainment system.
