Production of the DKW Junior began in 1959 in a newly constructed plant in Ingolstadt, Bavaria. DKW was a division of Auto Union AG, in Germany. Do the "Four-Circles" look familiar?... Auto Union transformed and is better known as Audi, today.
After being exported to the U.S., Nebraska was the original home of this little DKW gem until 2020. It moved to New York for several years, and then made its way out to Washington state in 2024.
This DKW Junior 750 appears to be in unadulterated, original condition and is believed to be the only one available in the United States! While there are some flaws and blemishes after sixty-three years, the bodywork of this car is very clean and shows nicely. It is finished in a light-green and the paintwork is contrasted by a cream interior. The exterior is accented by chrome bumpers, trim, and wheel covers.
This is an extremely rare three-cylinder, two-stroke, front-wheel drive, four-speed vehicle. The car is powered by a water-cooled, two-stroke 741cc inline-three mated to a column-shifted, four-speed manual gearbox. The engine is reported to have been rebuilt in 2018 and the clutch replaced in 2020. The engine features individual ignition coils and an electric fuel pump has been installed. The whole drivetrain works and functions very well.
The undercarriage is very clean and rust-free. The sheet metal is straight with no dents anywhere. There is no damage visible to the frame rails and the welds appear to be solid. The only enhancement under this car is the electric fuel pump mounted in front of the fuel tank area.
Since it is a two-stroke, "pre-mix" instructions, for adding oil to the fuel, are printed on the filler cap. If the car doesn't get you noticed, adding a quart of oil to the gas tank certainly will.
