1995 Lexus SC400 Coupe
The 1995 SC 400 featured several retouches to the exterior, including a new grille, headlamps, and alloy wheels. Less visible structural changes were also included to adhere to new side impact regulations. Today, many drivers are still behind the wheel of their 29 or 30 year old SCs, and who have kept a strict maintenance schedule are reporting minimal problems.
For consignment, a taste of some bell and whistle technology with this Lexus SC400 coupe showing a title verified 75,158 actual miles. Purchased by our consignor 6 years ago and coming with the window sticker and bill of sale being included with your purchase, we have a sport/luxury coupe ready that is almost 30 years old and still looks relevant today. Add in some 4.0 Liter V8 power and an abundance of creature comforts and welcome to the future Flash Gordon!
Exterior
Royal Jade Pearl coats the clean and straight original car. Gold badging adorns this car, and a nice rear spoiler is attached to the trunk lid. Very clean and fog free headlamps and fog lamps, which are neatly molded into the body style for smooth aerodynamics, lead the way on this aerodynamic jelly bean. A sunroof is atop the roof, and chrome drip moldings are seen surrounding the side windows. Out back, a low profile spoiler hovers above flush mount wraparound tail lights with a body matching neoprene bumper below. Gold plated dual exhaust tips peek out below and finish off this luxury sport just swimmingly. Chrome clad 16-inch wheels are wrapped by like new tires all around. We note a few stone chips in the finish along with some light scratches and the biggest fault we see is the pitting and slight delamination of the chrome finish on the rims.
Interior
Gray heated power leather bucket seats grab you and offer a comfortable area for you to drive for many hours without fatigue. A 2+2 bench seat is behind the buckets. Options seen are power locks, power mirrors, power windows, power steering, AM/FM/Cassette, electric sunroof, and a power antenna, all functional. The A/C blows cold and has a digital climate control. There is a trunk mounted 6-disc CD changer. Factory mats are protecting the near pristine carpet. Burl accents give a nice contrast to the gray leather and are scattered about the interior.
Drivetrain
The SC 400 houses a 250 horsepower 4.0 Liter V8, which will take this coupe from 0 to 60 in 6.6 seconds. Torque is rated at 260 lb-ft at 4400 rpm. A 4-speed floor shifted automatic takes the power from the V8 and hands it off to a 3.92 cogged rear axle.
Undercarriage
As expected for this cared for car, virtually no rust, structurally sound, and mechanically solid with only a few drips on the bottom of the drivetrain. Independent double wishbone suspension is seen at both the front and back and power 4 wheel disc brakes are on the corners to bring things to a quick halt. Dual exhaust sends spent fossils toward the rear of the car and man oh man, I cannot get enough of those gold tinted exhaust tips.
Drive-Ability
My test drive notes this SC provided a smooth and supple ride, with a suspension just left firm enough to provide a bit of a grand touring feel. Steering was very responsive, and the 4-speed automatic transmission effortlessly worked through gear changes. All functions worked as designed save for the radio turning on but emitting no sound. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.
This SC 400 provides a sporty feel with its wrap around design, and driver position set very close to the road. The well appointed interior features many items found in the LS, like a premium sound system, one touch power features, and surprisingly comfortable seats for a sports coupe. The owners were obviously meticulous and the condition shows...don't snooze on this skate or you'll be left in the dust.
