1970 GTO 455 HO
This 1970 GTO CONVERTIBLE 455 HO, 4 SPEED is one of only 158 made in 1970. The 1970 model year was the only year that Pontiac produced a high compression 455 HO engine. The 360 hp engine is original to the car as is the M21, Close Ratio Muncie 4-speed transmission and the 3:31 Positraction 12 bolt Axle. The Factory Production Manifest was found in the rear seat springs.
This GTO was built in the Baltimore, MD Plant in the 2nd week of October, 1969. It was shipped to Conerty Pontiac-Buick, INC. in Mechanicville, NY. The original color of this GTO was Verdoro Green but during restoration it was changed to Cardinal Red (which was a factory available color in 1970). The white convertible top is the correct, original color for the top . The Sandlewood Interior is also the correct, original color. The 4-speed console and Hurst Shifter are both original to the car as is the untested factory 8-Track Tape Player. The rest of the interior is an accurate reproduction made by Legendary Auto Interiors. The dash was restored perfectly by Just Dashes of CA. Notice how the dash is a slightly different color than the rest of the interior. This is how the factory did it for the 1970 model year.
The front Disc Brakes were factory installed. The correct Hood Tach has been added. (It was a factory available option.) This GTO originally had wheel covers but now has the 15"" Rally II wheels and G 70 Firestone Wide Oval, Raised White Letter Tires, which were optional available tires in 1970.(These tires are radial tires but they look like the original bias ply tires.) The exhaust is all aluminized
2 1/4"" pipe with factory style mufflers which replicate the original exhaust sound.
