1957 Chevrolet 210 2 Door Station Wagon
"There's a wagon load of pleasure in a Chevy wagon. We believe there's more to choosing a wagon than you'd think. You have to get in and size it up. You have to study it, inside and out, for space and for style. Then you have to get it out on the road. That's where Chevy does the talking. When you take the wheel of this wagon, you'll discover what "pleasure by the wagon load" really means!" From the 1957 Chevrolet Station Wagon sales brochure.
For consignment, a 1957 Chevrolet 210 2 door station wagon with a 350ci V8 under the hood and several trophy awards under its belt. Clean from stem to stern in fantastic blue and white d©cor.
Exterior
Classic 50's two tone envelopes this car with two stage Medium Blue and white, delineated by the polished metal trim spear and vertical accent. Let's move right the back where fins protrude beyond the tailgate, chrome rimmed and spilling over the tail lights which sit atop a robust rear bumper with stylized bookends and a straight bar spanning the width of the wagon. Up top, rows of large windows are intersected by small pillars, creating a greenhouse like few others and augmented by the wrap-around windshield. Rocket hood ornaments convey an aggressiveness, like if you don't get out of my lane, I will be firing these torpedoes. Meanwhile, the grille and bumper is a chromed work of art as are the headlight surrounds, and all in fantastic condition. 15-inch polished American Racing Torque Thrust wheels with knock off caps carry 235/75R15 white wall tires with a late 2022 date code. Our only noted imperfection is some peeling chrome on a wraparound end of a bumper.
Interior
Clean white pleated panels on the door are flanked by a medium blue header and dark blue carpeted lowers. The split bench seats are also adorned in medium blue bordering white pleated centers in a striking contrast that even shows on the armrest which wears blue piping on a white coat. The rear bench is perfect, and 57 Chevy is embroidered on the white seat belts, front and back, a nice attention to detail. A 2 spoke, white rimmed steering wheel on a polished tilt column fronts a dash that could easily double as a vintage jukebox with chrome ornamentation around white face gauges with blue needles. More attention to detail! A polished panel spans the dash topped by the blue painted top while a three gauge cluster has been added to the bottom along with an AM/FM/CD radio. The floor mounted Lokar shifter wears a white boot and is surrounded by blue loop carpet protected by 57 Chevy branded floor mats. As a topper, the perforated white headliner is in great shape. The storage area contains white rimmed carpeted mats with the tailgate being lined with colors and patterns consistent with the seats and door panels.
Drivetrain
Show quality shine greets us as we flip up the hood and find a mostly polished 350ci V8 topped by a 4-barrel Weber carburetor. Even the hood braces are chromed. A 700R4 4-speed automatic transmission is attached and sends power to the 10 bolt axle in back. Power brakes are provided with discs in front and drums in back.
Undercarriage
More polished components and blue bolts on the chromed differential cover. Relatively clean underneath with minimal surface rust, some transmission fluid on the line in, but no other out of place fluids. The dual exhaust runs from polished headers into Flowmaster mufflers and then out back with twin chrome tips split wide. Coil springs are up front and leaf springs out back.
Drive-Ability
Big windows and lots of chrome and white surrounding you makes for a bright and comfortable interior. The 350 fires up with a tolerable roar and sets out on a short excursion around the test loop where we find adequate power, great tracking, good handling, and satisfactory braking. Only two functions were found to be faulty, including the horn and the heater blower. Everything else works. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.
Vintage wagons have been hot in the collector market for a while now and there's no sign of the fervor cooling. They are still uncommon at car shows and provide a glimpse into family life in the mid-50's. This is a show worthy, turnkey example that checks all the boxes. Nearly 70 years after its production, this Two-Ten can still deliver a wagon load of pleasure.
