Only 115 miles on a very meticulous rotisserie restoration. Built to look like an old school gasser. It has the brute power with 658 hp but it also has upgrades making it a great cruiser: that 5th gear makes it highway friendly, suspension upgrades make it handle great and air conditioning was added to keep you comfortable. It's a Jekyll and Hyde!
EXTERIOR: This is one of the straightest 55s you will find! The obvious body mods are the old school radius rear wheel opening and removal of the front splash pan. The subtle mods would be removal of the emblems, trim and hood ornament for a clean look. Painted a glass finish onyx black. It is polished like a mirror; you could read the phone book in the reflection. The white roof is a nice contrast and is polished like glass. Even the jambs are slick. The chrome that is still on the car is new. All the glass is new. All the seals and weatherstrips are new. The back bumper is a smooth one piece bumper with no bolts exposed. The front bumper was removed for that gasser look. New 15 inch Rocket wheels have that old school look. The tires are Mickey Thompson Race Masters, real wide street slicks in back.
INTERIOR: I'm sitting on the Impala bucket seats looking at an Impala steering wheel. Mounted to the steering column is a rare set of vintage Sun gauges including a Super Tach, oil, and temp gauges. The interior metal is painted as slick as the exterior. All the trim on the dash has been replaced. There's a retro stereo in the factory location with molded kick panel speakers and 2 box speakers in back. A Vintage Air unit hangs right below the dash and will drop ice cubes in your lap! Down in between the bucket seats is a Hurst 5 speed shifter with the old school T-handle. I love the Delray pattern reproduction door panels. It has new carpet front to back. The roll bar is painted gloss black, it offers safety and better handling because it prevents body twisting. It has a new headliner. The dome light and under dash lights work. It has seatbelts added.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Everything in here is New from the motor to the nuts and bolts. New Blueprint Racing big block 502 Dyno tested at 658 hp! It has aluminum heads, high rise Weiand intake and a dual feed Holley carb. It also has Hooker headers and a new billet distributor. It even has a Vintage Air heat and a/c system. An aluminum radiator keeps it running cool. It has a dual reservoir Wilwood master cylinder. The hinges, fan, alternator, hoses, wires, steering box are all new. The firewall was custom made to accommodate the big block motor. All the metal surfaces are painted smooth.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: It is completely carpeted. The battery was relocated to the trunk in a sealed battery box and has a master disconnect. New trunk latch assembly and weatherstrip.
UNDERSIDE: The body was off the frame and under this car is brand new with upgrades! Upfront is all new Global West suspension with tubular control arms and QA-1 coilover adjustable gas shocks. In back it has new springs and bushings, upgraded with gas shocks, tubular traction bars and lowering blocks. The frame has a tubular frame brace kit to eliminate twisting. New exhaust with Thrush mufflers and turn down tailpipes at the rear end. All new fuel system including the tank. All new brake system including e-brake assembly and Wilwood disc in front. Looking up at the motor it is still immaculate. It has an extra capacity oil pan and a high torque starter. New SST transmission package including a TKX Tremec 5-speed manual trans. It also has a H.D. scatter shield. A fat driveshaft leads back to a H.D. 9 inch rear end. The floors are absolutely rust free smooth metal painted satin black.
SERVICE: After our inspection we fixed the turn signals, repaired the clock, repaired speedometer, repaired the horn, tightened and lubed idler arm, lubed window tracks and adjusted the e-brake. The wipers were removed during restoration.
Like I first said, this is a meticulous rotisserie built, and I stress meticulous! It is not a slapped together race car. It is a very well thought build and the attention to detail is obvious. The more time I spent with the car, the better I liked it. Michael even spoke very highly of it after his test drive!
I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A significant amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my professional impression of the vehicle. Our salesmen are happy to assist with descriptions and making sure your questions are answered. One great suggestion is letting us do a walk around video that explains the car's condition in detail. **These cars are displayed in a museum. If interested in a particular car, make an appointment with a salesman to see that car. Without an appointment there is an admission fee to enter the showroom. If you buy a car, your admission will be refunded, and you will be given a 1 year membership.
