Having been fully restored, this example is a key turn away from reliving its glory days both on the road and on display. One of only 697 ever built, all of which wear this striking color combo of Cameo White, Tyrol Blue stripes, and blue bucket seat interior. The original high-output V8 retains its #48 high compression heads, long branch exhaust manifolds, and Ram Air upper and lower intake pans. Power is sent through its original, aluminum cased, Muncie M20 4-speed manual transmission, and meets the ground via its requisite 10-bolt 3.55 Safe-T-Track rear axle.
The Trans Am's distinctive features include its dual snorkel hood, engine-air exhaust louvers, rear-deck airfoil, black textured grille, and Rally II wheels fitted with Goodyear Polyglas tires. The heavy-duty shocks and springs are engineered to handle not just wide-open spaces but also rugged mountain passes, embodying Pontiac's vision of a new pony express.
