The last year Ford offered a convertible until the 1980s was 1973. This 1973 Ford Mustang convertible is a rare find that is good-looking and affordable - you can't say that about many vintage cars today. 1973 also brought the last year of the "big" Mustang, the last of the first-generation Mustangs. It was about to be replaced by a smaller, lighter Mustang, and Ford was focused on getting that ready. Therefore, most of the changes for 1973 were purely cosmetic. A large, square, chrome headlamp bezel appeared, as did chrome trim around the tail lights. A color-keyed urethane front bumper replaced the chrome units from previous years. The front parking lights were now placed vertically in the front grille.
Finished in light blue with a black convertible top, this classic is attractive from every angle. Enhancing the looks of this Mustang is a set of factory optional and seldom-seen Sports wheel covers, plus factory body-colored sports mirrors. The body is straight, and the paint is in good shape for an unrestored car. The white interior is in good condition and features bucket seats, a floor shifter, a wood-rimmed Grant GT steering wheel, power windows, a vintage Sony cassette radio, a rare factory tachometer, as well as oil pressure, alternator, and temperature and gauges.
Under the hood is a 302 V8 engine mated to a C4 automatic transmission. The engine bay features finned aluminum Cobra valve covers, exhaust headers, power front disc brakes, power steering, and a 2-barrel carburetor with the original tag still in place.
